Keyboards!

The process of creating a mechanical keyboard is repetitive: lube the stabilizers, solder the switches, attach the keycaps, rinse and repeat. What captivates me is when I get to add my own colors to these blocks of metal and instill in them meaning.

Project #000000 - The Darkest Keyboard on Earth

Made with Black 3.0, the darkest shade of black on Earth, this keyboard was my first creation. However, unaware of the chemical properties of the paint, its reaction between the primer might have caused the white wrinkles, which took away from the overall effect. Still, not bad for the first attempt.

“Rebirth"

Recycled my old Razer keyboard that I had before I learnt how to DIY.

I just thought it looked cool.

“Kiki"

This is a gift to a friend who represents the optimism and independence I see in Kiki from 'Kiki's Delivery Service' directed by Hayao miyazaki. It also happens to be her favorite cartoon character.

With positivity, we can all find our own magic.

“Baymax”

This is a gift for a friend who is caring, reliable and kind. Baymax, the robot health assistant from 'Big Hero 6', resembles his qualities. My friend still has this keyboard on his desktop, commemorating our six years of fond memories together.
